Pre-Authorized Payments

How to mimic card-on-file with our debit auth functionality

Written by Charles Lehman

SynchPay lets you request permission from a patient to withdraw up to a certain amount without requiring the patient to interact or approve the payment request. In other words, this mimics a traditional card-on-file experience.

A common use case for this feature is when a patient is coming in for a series of procedures, each with the same price. By setting up pre-authorized payments, you can automatically withdraw from this patient's account. The patient will receive a notification to approve the initial withdrawal authorization and will receive a receipt upon each subsequent request.

If you send a payment request that is greater than the pre-authorized amount, it will fall back to a normal payment request.
